From the Founder

My journey through Black Panther Party history started in 1989 when I enrolled in a college course taught by the late Julian Bond, civil rights veteran and Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee founding member.

I started researching women in the Black Panther Party during 1990 and submitted my senior honors thesis in 1992. Thirty years later I find myself still on this journey. I still walk with many BPP women who started me on this path. A number of my earlier supporters and collaborators are now with the ancestors and I have met many new friends along the way.  

I established this website to acknowledge and honor the many legacies of the women of the Black Panther Party. I hope the site serves to inspire you as much as I have been inspired and have had the opportunity to learn over the 30 years I have been on this journey.
